Description:	What do terms such as "wiki," "blog," "social networking", "RSS" and "podcast" mean to you? If they're unfamiliar to you, they won't be for long. They're all Web 2.0 technologies, and they're changing the way we work in ways we could only have imagined a few years ago. Web 2.0 technologies are helping individuals and businesses build more, connect more, share more, have more fun, sell more stuff, and do it all faster and more efficiently. So, it's important to know which tools and applications are right for a given project and how they can add value? Join us to learn how Web 2.0 will change the way we communicate and collaborate. Our presenter will be Dr. Julie Smith David, Director of the Center for Advancing Business through IT and an Associate Professor in the Department of Information Systems. Dr. Smith David has worked for Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) and as the MIS Director for a Chicago-area paper distributor. She shares this "real world" knowledge in the information systems classes she teaches such as Managing Information Systems, the MBA core course that focuses on the strategic importance of IT and the costs, risks and opportunities that emerging technologies provide. Her research mirrors her teaching responsibilities as she studies emerging aspects of enterprise applications, their design, and the impact they have on companies. Her work has been published in Management Science, Communications of the ACM, Journal of Information Systems, International Journal of Accounting Information Systems, and Strategic Finance. If you work with, or matrix-manage people to meet your key deliverables, work remotely with people you have never met, but talk with daily, or are held accountable for the deliverables of others, you know that motivating and influencing others you depend upon, but have no authority over, can be a daily struggle. Alan Vengel developed this workshop in response to the requests of business professionals who know they need to work through others to achieve objectives. Description:	In January, ASU launched its School of Sustainability, the first of its kind in the world, with the goal of finding solutions to the most pressing global and local sustainability issues. Please join us on Tuesday, September 18th at Devry University, 2149 W Dunlap Ave. to learn how ASU is educating a new generation of leaders through collaborative learning and problem-oriented training to address the environmental, economic and social challenges of the 21st century. Four students from this program-- Ladee Rickard, Heather Kinkade-Levario, Theresa Foster and Joey Kellner, will discuss sustainability issues such water use and reclamation in master planned communities, how to manufacture products while considering how they'll be recycled when they're obsolete, and how we can plan future growth to reduce the amount we have to drive.
