GREAT MINDS™ COLLEGIATE

GREAT MINDS™ COLLEGIATE

GREAT MINDS™ COLLEGIATE The GREAT MINDS™ program bridges the gap between industry and schools by establishing community programs and groups focused on facilitating exposure to opportunities in technology.

Mission

Mentor, connect, and inspire young women interested in technology careers or educational pursuits.

GREAT MINDS Scholarship Program 2008

Through the scholarships, ATW provides financial assistance to women whose academic and professional goals include science, math, engineering or technology.  Scholars are chosen on the basis of volunteer service, passion for technology, leadership activities, scholastic grades, letters of recommendation and previous awards, among other criteria.  Demonstrated passion and spirit for technology is weighted most heavily in the selection process.  ATW scholarships are not solely need-based; rather they are focused on allowing students to experience a technology-based education regardless of their social, financial and/or academic standing.  ATW scholarships are open to first-time students, as well as the adult learner returning to school to pursue a new career.  Students must be enrolled in an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree program to be eligible.  Students with diverse levels of life experience, academic merit, age, race and religion are encouraged to apply.  Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Round-1 Applications for scholarships are available online beginning February 4, 2008 and are due February 28, 2008.

Application Procedure

Apply online at http://www.zoomerang.com/survey.zgi?p=WEB227C67YLVPE

Those selected from the first round will be notified by March 10, 2008 and will then compete in a more

detailed application process which will include, but will not be limited to:

1.    A signed and completed Scholarship Application (sent only to those selected from the first round of the application process).

2.    An academic transcript from all high schools (if applicant has not earned an associate or bachelor degree), colleges, universities, or vocational or technical schools attended.  Transcripts need not be official.

3.    Two letters of recommendation, each not to exceed one double-spaced, typed page. Each recommendation letter must contain the name, address and phone number of the person making such recommendation, the time period the person has known the applicant and the nature of the relationship.

4.    Copy of acceptance letter to an institution meeting the above described criteria for the coming semester.

Scholarship Selection

Once Round 2 applications are submitted, the ATW Scholarship Committee will evaluate all of the applications submitted in each category.  The screening process will take place in April 2008.  Scholarship recipients will be notified by May 15, 2008 and awarded the scholarship for the fall semester or quarter, as applicable.
